As a finance and audit professional, entrepreneur, and long-time advocate for governance and ethics, I view this appointment as a responsibility to bridge the ambitions of Gulf professionals with international best practices. Our region is filled with talent, vision, and momentum — what we need now is greater unification, professional collaboration, and a global mindset.
Why This Matters Now
The Gulf region is rapidly evolving into a hub of innovation, economic diversification, and institutional reform. Governments are launching visionary strategies such as the UAE’s We the UAE 2031 and Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, both emphasizing knowledge economies, digital transformation, and global competitiveness.
However, these goals cannot be achieved through policy alone. We must invest in our human capital, ensuring that finance professionals are globally certified, ethically grounded, and equipped to lead in a dynamic economy.
This is where IMA plays a critical role — offering globally respected certifications such as the Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Certified in Strategy and Competitive Analysis (CSCA), and continuous learning opportunities for accounting and finance leaders.
My Focus Going Forward
With the support of IMA and regional stakeholders, I remain committed to the following goals:
- Championing the UAE and GCC voice in global conversations around accounting, finance, and sustainability
- Encouraging young professionals to pursue certifications and lifelong learning, helping them compete globally while solving local challenges
- Forging partnerships between IMA and government entities, universities, and private institutions to advance knowledge sharing and capability building
Across every board meeting, conference, and mentorship session, I advocate for finance as a force for impact — not only for companies but for economies and communities.
A Personal Commitment
This article was originally published in Arabic on Al Khaleej News, and I felt it was important to share a translated and expanded version with my wider global network.
The Gulf is not just participating in the future of finance — we are helping to shape it. But sustainable progress depends on professional unity, ethical leadership, and global collaboration.
Let us come together — regulators, educators, professionals, and entrepreneurs — to build a resilient financial ecosystem that reflects the values and ambitions of our region.
